Peeping Tom, Hairnet and All
18patton.jpg
Every performance by Mike Patton is a very memorable occasion -- no
matter which of his many musical projects (including Faith No More,
Mr. Bungle, and Fantomas) is playing. Wednesday nights Peeping Tom
show at Warsaw was no different. Mike Patton and his very talented
backing band, featuring the legendary Rhazel, among others, took a
pretty good album and brought it to exceptional heights. Patton (who
was indeed wearing a hairnet) had every member of the audience under
his sinister spell...
At one point late in the show, the band started a laughing riot,
enticing the audience to laugh along, with Patton proclaiming Laugh,
bitches! In a time where the typical art-rock concert consists of a
band standing entirely still, performances like these are refreshing.
Mikes a team player who lets his bandmates showcase their talents as
well, by breaking it down" with solo showcase performances by Rhazel,
Imani Coppola (from Brooklyn), and DJ Mike Relm, as well as an opening
performance by Dub Trio (also from Brooklyn) who also perform as part
of Peeping Tom. For an encore, the band performed a perfectly executed
cover Anger Management," a song by yet another of Pattons groups,
Lovage.

wait a second johnny, you neglected to even mention one of the
greatest producers alive--dan the automator! not only is he a genious,
but his pacing around stage swilling champage was a nice touch. him
and patton have it" and fantomas/peeping tom would be little without
him. the show however bordered a little too close to rap-rock" for
me. a very tainted genre.
